Ichlu Reim would not be able to function without the solidarity and commitment of our wonderful volunteers. The value of “people power” cannot be emphasised enough because this is the basis of our workforce. Many of our volunteers come to us from all around the world, as well as local Israelis. They may come only once, or they become “regulars”. Youth groups, students and people of all ages volunteer at Ichlu Reim. Bar and Bat Mitzvah boys and girls love to come with their families and friends as part of their celebrations. Recent volunteers include groups from the Israel Defence Force and Russian girls studying in Jerusalem. Volunteer tasks vary widely, covering food preparation, cleaning, grocery parcel packing, administration, fund raising, and of course, serving meals in the dining room. In addition to a fun and rewarding experience, our volunteers have the opportunity to meet interesting people from all walks of life. Most of all, it is the positive feedback and satisfaction of helping that is most moving. We hope that they will also pass on their impressions of Ichlu Reim and encourage more and more people to become helpers and offer their own suggestions for volunteer activities. We will be thrilled to welcome you as volunteers or as visitors. Be sure to include Ichlu Reim in your itinerary on your next trip to Israel.
